Painting #3 "Horse Riding": In the area with photo challenge Scout #7, the painting is on the wall leading up to the Scout.Painting #2 "Rock Climber": At the Observatory, the drawing is on the rock wall just underneath the bridge.Just to the left of this chain in the painting. Painting #1 "Cosmic Sighting": In the area with the Yeti, there is a long chain that players can climb using the Climbing Boots to reach the top of the mountain.Five more Ancient Paintings need to be found: four are in Kiiruberg, and one is located in the Mountain Top.
When the player talks to her, she'll show them an "amazing" ancient drawing on the side of the wall of the Yeti's cave. This quest is picked up from the Explorer, who is located just behind the Yeti cave. Hit "Continue Adventure" at any point to complete the quest. When all three have been found, head way back to the choir area with the talking sign and listen to their show. Players can actually see this one when talking to the balloon family, since the mountain it sits on is so high. Equip the camera and pan around, looking at the peak of the mountains, to find the goat on the Bus Station side of the area. The third Goat is located in the area with the balloon family's house.Equip the camera and pan to the right to see the goat standing on the mountain top. Stand on the highest point of the mountain, on the Northern side of the bridge. The second Goat is located in the area with the Yeti (from the balloon family's house, go up twice).It's on the mountain just to the right of the picnic area. The first Goat is located at the top of the ski lift.When they're located, stare at them through the camera until the circle in the middle of the screen fills up, at which point they'll return to the choir area. There are three in total, all of which the players will need to find. Interact with it, and when asked if about listening to the choir, choose "yes." Sit on the bench as instructed, and the sign will come to the drastic conclusion that all the goats are missing. And it’s one that beckons me to return long after I’ve done everything I can possibly do in the game just to see what other amusing pictures I can take.From the balloon family's house, go left once to find the sign that will "start" the Goat Choir. This is simply a well-crafted jaunt through a charming world. There is no design here that is questionable, no idea that feels unfinished. What sets TOEM apart from the many other wholesome games that plateau at mediocrity is its excellent execution of the concepts it puts forth. The art direction of TOEM reminds me greatly of a monochromatic ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, and its whimsical nature buoys the lighthearted presentation of the rest of the game, including the amusing writing and pleasantly airy soundtrack. The camera controls are really easy to understand and I had a laugh getting reaction shots when I used the horn attachment to startle people. Of course, I also enjoyed it so because the photography here is quite delightful and there are some wonderful sights to see in this world. Sometimes all you need is a great zoom and capable autofocus. There is a veritable smorgasbord of options for stunning photography out there in games, but as TOEM taught me, you don’t always need all those gadgets and gizmos to take a great picture. So even though I really wanted a Nikon F-301 or Fujifilm GS645S, the best they did for me was one of those point-and-clicks you find behind the counter at CVS.ĭespite that, the desire to explore photography never died in me, and over the past few years, the gaming industry has really tickled this fancy with all the outstanding in-game photography tools they keep developing. The bass guitar, the keyboard, karate, basketball, my comedic attempts at animation all of which cost money my parents eventually got tired of spending. Unfortunately, I had a lot of interests I never followed through with back then. Not only were photographers sleek and stylish in all the movies and television shows, but the idea of traveling to exotic locales to take breathtaking pictures greatly appealed to a kid who wanted to get the hell out of his small town.
